Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary of the Choquequirao Hiking Tour

Day 1: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Rosaspata

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4 a.m., and you will travel on our private bus with your tour guide and drive approximately four hours until you reach the trailhead, called Capuliyoc. There you will meet the horses and muleteers. Your trekking guide will introduce you to the team. From here, the views of the snow-clad are beautiful, after a lovely group photo, the incredible expedition to Choquekirao will begin. It will be a four-hour descent hike with some stops until you reach the place of your first lunch. The trail can be dusty and slippery, but with good trekking shoes and trekking poles, you won’t have any problems. It will have spectacular landscapes and an abundance of flora and fauna. After lunch, you will walk for two more hours until you reach your first camp.

Day 2. Rosaspata – Choquequirao

After an energetic breakfast, start with the 3-hour climb uphill, with zigzags. While climbing, you will enjoy the best panoramic views. This climbing is one of the most challenging parts of Choquequirao hiking Tour 4 days. From Marampata, it will be a flat road until you reach the Inca city. This will be the most impressive section of your entire walk because you will have incredible views from the summit to the Apurimac canyon. You will also have a breathtaking view of the city cradle of gold.

Upon arrival at the camp, you will enjoy an energetic lunch. After lunch, go to the Inca site to spend a fantastic time, discover the archeological site and watch the stunning sunset. Then return to your camp, this camp is fascinating because it will be right at the foot of the Inca site.

Day 3. Choquequirao – Marampata – Chiquisca

Today in this beautiful and last city of the Inca Empire, you will have the opportunity to see the sunrise. After breakfast, explore the last Inca city, tour all the important areas, discover the hidden secrets behind them, and admire the challenging work of the Andean man.

After registering all the corners with your camera lens, start coming back and stop at Marampata to enjoy a delicious lunch. Then, go down a challenging path until you reach the Apurimac River. Then start ascending on the opposite side until you reach Chiquiska, where you will spend the third night of the Choquequirao trek 4 days.

Day 4. Chiquiska – Capuliyoc – Cusco

After your last breakfast, you will prepare to return to Cusco. It will be a four-hour uphill hike until you reach the end of the hike, where you will enjoy your last lunch with your tour guide and muleteers. You will say goodbye to the expedition team and then continue with your tour guide to Cusco, for approximately three hours by car with a stop at the rock of Sayhuite, a beautiful sculpture worked in high and low relief. You will arrive in Cusco at around 6 p.m. We will drop you at your hotel.

  • For the best acclimatization, drink the infusion of coca leaves, you should take short walks through the city of Cusco on your own, or you can also hire a short tour like the City Tour, the Sacred Valley, salt mines of Maras – Moray or Machu Picchu full day (booking separately).

  • In periods of heavy rain, we do not recommend doing in the months of December, January, February and March. This recommendation is according to the weather conditions of the Andes.
