Full Day Qeswachaka Bridge Tour

It is the only one left in Peru and is a great cultural heritage of our ancestors. Qeswa = plant fiber braid and Chaka = bridge which means plant fiber bridge.

During the Inca empire time, there were more than 40 thousand kilometers of trails, and the main one was called Qhapaq Ñan (path of the nobility). These allowed the best administration of the empire and the tunnels and bridges that were necessary to cross the rugged geography of the Andes were built, especially hanging bridges made of vegetable fibers to cross rivers.

Currently, there is a single bridge that has been renewed annually for more than 500 years; using rituals and complex ancestral knowledge. The restoration (June 1 to 5) is carried out by the 4 communities that are located around the Q’eswachaka bridge: Huinchiri, Chaupibanda, Choccayhua, and Ccollana Quehue, all of them belonging to the province of Canas, Cusco.

The historic house of Tupac Amaru II (José Gabriel Condorcanqui). Peruvian revolutionary. Descendant of the royal dynasty of the Incas. In 1780, he led the great indigenous rebellion against the Spanish authorities. After a great achievement, he was executed by the Spaniards in 1572.

Pabellones Volcano. It is located in the district of Tungasuca. It is approximately 5 meters in diameter and 5 meters high. What makes it a tourist attraction is its unique geological formation and its size. It is a rocky formation (calcareous) that resembles a volcano but in miniature version.

The Apurimac River canyon. It is one of the most important and impressive canyons in Peru, formed by the Apurimac River. The Apurimac River is the source of the Amazon River and is born in the Chila mountain range, Arequipa. On this river was built the current and last Q’eswachaka suspension Inca bridge.
