DAY 1

Arrival in Cusco and City Tour

Upon arrival at the Cusco airport in the morning, one of our hosts will welcome you and escort you on your transfer and check-in at the hotel. After noon, together with your professional tour guide, embark on an exciting and unique 6-hour tour and discover the most emblematic places inside and outside the Imperial City.

Visit The main square preceded by the statue of the ninth emperor of the Inca empire and The amazing churches of the Company of Jesus and The Cathedral Basilica. Then, stroll inside the Cathedral and admire the beautiful religious decoration of precious metals and wood. Afterwards, visit The temple of the sun at Qorikancha, the administrative, religious, military and astronomical center at the incas time. Later, leave the city to visit Sacsayhuaman fortress and take a look at the mysterious polygonal style cyclopean walls with perfect inlays and finally return to your hotel.

Today, get up early in the morning and take a full day tour to Huaynapicchu and Machu Picchu Mountain.

Our staff will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 3:45 am, then you will be transferred by tourist minibus to Ollantaytambo train station. Take the 6:10 am train and have an unforgettable journey through the Urubamba River valley surrounded by huge mountains until you reach Machu Picchu village (Aguas Calientes). Upon arrival, you will be greeted by one of our hosts and professional local tour guide who will escort you on your tour in Machu Picchu Inca citadel (2-hour).

If you have the Huaynapicchu mountain access ticket, if you have the Huayna Picchu mountain access ticket, first do the Machu Picchu Inca citadel tour, then hike up Huaynapicchu mountain on your own (entrance time 9-10am). If you have the Machu Picchu Mountain access ticket, first make the hike to Machu Picchu Mountain on your own (entrance time 8-9am), after the mountain, do the Machu Picchu Inca citadel tour (2-hour).

The ascent to either of the 2 mountains will be a unique and unforgettable experience in your life. From the top, you will enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Machu Picchu Inca citadel in perfect harmony with nature.

After the excursion, board a bus to the Aguas Calientes town and have lunch on your own. Later (15:20, or 18:20 hours), take your return train to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, you will be met and escorted by our staff on your return trip in a tourist minibus to the Cusco city.

  • Before and upon arrival in Cusco, take pills for altitude sickness (soroche). In your hotel in Cusco also take the infusion of coca leaves, it will help you to acclimatize better and not to feel much the annoying headache, dizziness and vomiting. Avoid coffee, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, as they impede the good assimilation of oxygen.
  • In Cusco, in the early morning and at night, wear warm clothes. Especially on the second day of the itinerary.
  • To travel by train to Machu Picchu, leave your heavy suitcases at the hotel in Cusco. The train company only allows you to travel with personal luggage. If you wish to travel with your heavy luggage, you will have to pay a supplement to the train company and go through a long process to send it by freight train.
