Cusco – Waqrapukara Archaeological site – Cusco.
To start our Waqrapukara full day tour. Escorted by our guide and professional driver, we will leave the city of Cusco at 4:30 in the morning heading south. In 1 hour and a half drive, we will arrive at the Cusipata town, where we will enjoy our homemade breakfast. We will then continue on the paved road, passing the Chuquicahuana bridge and making a brief stop at the Pumacanchi lagoon to appreciate the scenic beauty and abundance of wildlife. Then, passing the Sangara village, we will leave the paved road and ascend in zigzag to the Aqomoqo pass (4,350m/14,271ft), where we will begin the 2-hour hike to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara (4,200m/13,779ft).
At 8:30 a.m., we will start the 6 km/3.7 miles hike on a flat path and mostly downhill (The return will be by the same route and mostly uphill. In total it will be a 12km/8miles hike). At 10:30 am we will arrive at our final destination and together with our professional guide we will explore the imposing and enigmatic Inca administrative, religious, military and astronomical center. After marveling and photographing, we will take a few minutes to enjoy our aperitif. Then, we will return to the parking lot and take our mobility to the city of Cusco. Arrival in Cusco approximately at 18:30 to 19:00 hours.
